Rafting on the Ayung river is very fun to do and suitable for everyone. There are many providers for raft rides along this river. The tours range in distance and duration. The longest trip is offered by Mega rafting, this tour is about 10 km long and takes about 2 hours with a short stopover where you can drink. While rafting you can enjoy the breathtaking nature in this canyon. Tip; make sure you arrive around 10:00AM at the raft location. At about an hour’s drive, at 1142 metres height, you find a beautifully landscaped 18 hole golf course (Bali handara kosaido country club). For whoever wants to escape the heat of the lowlands, this place may give you a more suitable temperature where you can also play golf. In Bali there are several beautiful waterfalls. At Labuhan lalang (about 1 hour drive from the villa) you can find boats that can bring you to Menjangan island, where you can behold the fantastic underwater world. Bedugul Botanical garden (Kebun Raya Eka Karya) is located in the mountains around Bedugul, at 1100 m height this 150 ha. large complex near the Beratan Lake. You’ll find more than 1100 types of trees and plants including over 300 species of orchids and over 100 types of cacti. On Bali there are innumerable temples, the most famous are those of Tanah Lot/Uluwatu and Ulun Danu bratan Temple in the Lake. Less than 2 km from our villa is the oldest Buddhist monastery of Bali (Brahma Vihara Ashrama). There you can find a small Borobudur Temple, really worth to pay a visit.
Ubud is a very busy place, it attracts a lot of tourists. You will find almost everything, such as art, silver, gold and furniture. There is also a large market that is open 7 days of the week. In and around the village Mas, close to Ubud, you’ll find lots of carved wood and stone cutters. You can also visit UC silver and Buddha to Buddha, you are even allowed in the workshops of these forges. So you can witness how jewelry is made.
Fun to do, rent a scooter. You can rent one via our helpdesk. The costs are 60.000 – 85.000RP per day, this includes insurance and helmet, excluding fuel. However, you must possess both an ordinary driver’s license as an international driver’s license. Chances are that you get picked out of traffic being a tourist. When you don’t have the right papers you will guaranteed get a penalty. There is a helmet requirement.
PLEASE NOTE!! The traffic is very busy, they drive on the left side in Bali. There are hardly any traffic rules. Participating in traffic on a scooter is not totally risk-free! Keep your eyes on the road, and particularly pay attention to other road users!
